Start of Term Arrangements for HMGoG Schools September 2024

The below information is listed by way of a reminder to parents and pupils.

The new academic term for all HMGoG schools will start on 2nd September 2024.

In order to help pupils settle back into their school routine as smoothly as possible after the summer recess, different year groups will be welcomed back to school on different days and at different times. Precise details of these arrangements have been communicated to parents via each school’s usual channel of communication. Details will also be posted on the Department of Education’s website www.education.gov.gi. 

The headline schedule details for pupils in all other HMGoG schools*, for the first day of term for each year group, are as follows:

Nursery

Group 1 Friday 6th September 09:30 - 11:30; or Group 2 Monday 9th September 09:30 - 11:30, as advised by the school.

Then full morning sessions as from Wednesday 11th September onwards.

Reception

Group 1 Wednesday 4th September 09:30 - 11:30; or Group 2 Thursday 5th September 09:30 - 11:30, as advised by the school.

Then full morning sessions as from Friday 6th September onwards.

Year 1

Tuesday 3rd September 10:00 - 12:00.

Then full morning sessions as from Wednesday 4th September onwards.

Year 2

Monday 2nd September 11:00 - 12:00.

Then full morning sessions as from Tuesday 3rd September onwards.

Year 3

Tuesday 3rd September 09:30 - 12:15.

Then Wednesday 4th September onwards 09:00 - 12:30.

Year 4

Monday 2nd September 11:30 - 12:30.

Then Tuesday 3rd September onwards 09:00 - 12:30.

Year 5

Monday 2nd September 11:30 - 12:30.

Then Tuesday 3rd September onwards 09:00 - 12:30.

Year 6

Monday 2nd September 11:30 - 12:30.

Then Tuesday 3rd September onwards 09:00 - 12:30.

Year 7

Wednesday 4th September 09:00 - 12:45.

Then 09:00 - 12:45 from Thursday 5th September onwards.

Year 8

Tuesday 3rd September 11:00 - 12:45.

Then 09:00 - 12.45 as from Thursday 5th September onwards.

Year 9

Tuesday 3rd September 09:00 - 10:45.

Then 09:00 - 12.45 as from Thursday 5th September onwards.

Year 10

Tuesday 3rd September 11:00 - 12:45.

Then 09:00 - 12:45 as from Thursday 5th September onwards.

Year 11

Tuesday 3rd September 09:00 - 10:45.

Then 09:00 - 12:45 as from Thursday 5th September onwards.

Year 12

Wednesday 11th September 09:00 - 11:00.

Then as per their timetable as from period 3 on the same day (11/09/2024).

Year 13

Monday 2nd September 11:00 - 12:45.

Then as per their timetable as from Thursday 5th September onwards.

*Please note the distinct start of term arrangements for pupils in St Martin’s School and the Gibraltar College. Arrangements for these institutions can be found separately, later on in this notice.

After each year group’s initial welcome back on the first day of term, pupils will attend full school sessions as indicated above and advised by their school.

Winter Hours (full days) will commence on Wednesday 11th September.

Arrangements for pupils of St Martin’s School are as follows:

St Martin’s School will be opening on Monday 2nd September. Parents/carers have been advised of the start of term arrangements pertinent to their child directly through the school.

Arrangements for the Gibraltar College are as follows:

Year 12: Wednesday 11th September 09:00 - 11:00 and then as per their timetable as from period 3 on the same day.

Year 13: Monday 2nd September 11:00 - 12:45 and then as per their timetable as from Thursday 5th September.

All other College students will be advised of their start of term arrangements directly by the College.

The school day will operate on a summer hours schedule up to and including Monday 9th September. Winter hours will commence on Wednesday 11th September. Pupils are expected to attend school every day, for the full school day, taking due notice of the details as per their school’s instructions.

Reception pupils will start attending one afternoon session a week. This schedule will start the week commencing Monday 16th September. Parents will be advised of the specific details pertaining to their child in due course. Arrangements will be shared with parents directly via the school.

Pupils in Reception will start attending 1 afternoon a week as from Monday 16th September 2024.

Pupils in Reception will start attending 3 afternoons a week as from Monday 21st October 2024.

Pupils in Reception will start attending all afternoons every week when school sessions resume for Term 3, i.e. from Tuesday 22nd April 2025 onwards.
