Start of the Academic Year 2022/2023


The new academic term for all HMGoG schools will start on 1st September 2022.


In order to help pupils settle back into their school routine as smoothly as possible after the summer recess, different year groups will be welcomed back to school on different days and at different times. Precise details of these arrangements have been communicated to parents via each school’s usual channel of communication. Details will also be posted on the Department of Education’s website www.education.gov.gi.


Headline schedule details for pupils in all HMGoG schools* for the first day of term for each year group are as follows:

Lower Primary

Arrangements for St Joseph’s Lower Primary, St Mary’s Lower Primary, Governor’s Meadow Lower Primary, St Bernard’s Lower Primary, Notre Dame Lower Primary and St Paul’s Lower Primary are as follows:

Nursery: Either Tuesday 6th September 09:30 - 11:30 or Wednesday 7th September 09:30 - 11:30

Reception: Monday 5th September either 09:15 - 10:15; 10:45 to 11:45 or 11:00 - 12:00

Year 1: Friday 2nd September 10:00 - 12:00

Year 2: Thursday 1st September 11:00 - 12:00


Arrangements for the Hebrew Primary School are as follows:

Reception: Monday 5th September from 11:00 - 12:00

Year 1: Friday 2nd September from 11:00 - 12:00

Year 2: Thursday 1st September 11:00 - 12:00

Year 3: Thursday 1st September 11:00 - 12:00

Year 4: Thursday 1st September 11:00 - 12:00

Year 5: Thursday 1st September 11:00 - 12:00

St Martin’s School


St Martin’s and Early Birds Nursery will be opening on Thursday 1st September. Parents/carers have been advised of the start of term arrangements pertinent to their child directly through the school.


Upper Primary

Arrangements for St Joseph’s Upper Primary, St Bernard’s Upper Primary, Bishop Fitzgerald Upper Primary and St Anne’s Upper Primary are as follows:

Year 3: Friday 2nd September 09:30 - 12:15

Year 4: Thursday 1st September 11:30 - 12:30

Year 5: Thursday 1st September 11:30 - 12:30

Year 6: Thursday 1st September 11:30 - 12:30


Secondary Schools

Arrangements for Bayside and Westside Schools are as follows:

Year 7: Monday 5th September 09:00 - 12:45

Year 8: Friday 2nd September 11:00 - 12:45

Year 9: Friday 2nd September 09:00 - 10:45

Year 10: Friday 2nd September 11:00 - 12:45

Year 11: Friday 2nd September 09:00 - 10:45

Year 12: Tuesday 13th September 09:00 and then as per T/T

Year 13: Thursday 1st September 11:00 - 12:45


Gibraltar College

Arrangements for the Gibraltar College are as follows:

Year 12: Tuesday 13th September 09:00 and then as per T/T

Year 13: Thursday 1st September 11:00 - 12:45

All other students will be advised of their start of term arrangements directly by the College.


Important Information


The school day will operate on a summer hours schedule up to and including Friday 9th September. Winter hours will commence on Tuesday 13th September. Pupils are expected to attend school every day, for the full school day, taking due notice of the details as per their school’s instructions.

Reception pupils will start attending one afternoon session a week. This schedule will start the week commencing Monday 19th September. Parents will be advised of the specific details pertaining to their child in due course. Arrangements will be shared with parents directly via the school.
